DP Blogcast - 12/14/08

Finally decided to start a DP podcast, or what I like to call "blogcast" that'll be available for free download every Sunday on this website. It'll wrap up the week's best remixes and beats I posted about for 30 minutes or less (depending on how much I posted, and how good it was). Well, here it is, my first DP Blogcast.

Cool Tunes Tuesday: Kings of Leon

I got three pretty wicked remixes for some Kings of Leon tracks I thought I'd put up for Cool Tunes Tuesday. The first track's the Kings' biggest hit, Sex On Fire (Tenzin Remix) (someone was bound to come out with a dance remix to that one). The second track's CSS's edit of The Bucket, and the third track is a remix of another Kings of Leon hit, Knocked Up (my personal favorite). Only this time, you've Lykke Li and The Rodeo thrown into the mix. Figure that one out.

Cut Copy vs. The Golden Filter

In case you don't remember, a while back I posted about Hercules & Love Affair's fantastic disco remix of a Cut Copy track, Far Away. As I mentioned in that post, other artists including The Golden Filter, would be remixing the track. Well, I never lie. Here's the remix along with a Solid Gold video teaser.

Why isn't DP on the HM?

The Hype Machine, or "Hypem", is a fantastic website that skillfully categorizes and lists all free music downloads posted on almost every music blog there is. It creates widgets, organizes posts by most popular and recent, and gives links to the downloadable track, EP, or album.

However, I was scrolling through Hypem's list of music blogs the other day on their website, and found that not only was I not listed, but nor were my fellow bloggers Chalky and Greg, over at TLS and MDR (yeah, I know, too many acronyms). Anywho, Hypem's a brilliant way to popularize your blog, and I would deeply appreciate it if all my readers here submitted a form to Hypem, asking for Danish Poet Blog to be included on their blog list. Just enter my url (http://danishpoetblog.blogspot.com/) in the box here. If it says something like, "Danish Poet Blog has been reviewed and currently is not included in the Hype Machine." Then I would be eternally grateful if you were to send a message to Hypem requesting Danish Poet on the blog list. You can go here, and simply cut and copy what I already have written below:

Dear Hypem,

I have found to my surprise that the music blog Danish Poet Blog (http://danishpoetblog.blogspot.com/) is not included on your blog list. I have tried to recommend the blog, but for some reason, you will not allow it on your site. I would (as I'm sure would many) deeply appreciate it if you were to add this blog to your blog list. If you still continue refuse to, please explain why.

Love, [insert name here]

If you were to actually submit this form I would love you forever. Cheers! Until then, here are some downloads:

Cool Tunes Tuesday: The Ting Tings

I've been finding a lot of awesome tracks lately that I thought might be kind of cool to share with you. Every Tuesday's cool tunes Tuesday, which means I'll be putting up some remixes, covers, mash-ups, or what have you, up for free download. Every new tuesday means a new artist, so for this tuesday, I've got four tracks by The Ting Tings. The first track's from when the Ting Tings played Happy Birthday on a kids show called Yo Gabba Gabba. It's actually the original version from the one in that 80's movie, Sixteen Candles. The second track's an extremely rare acoustic version of one of The Ting Tings biggest hits, Great DJ. The third track's the LA Riots Remix of That's Not My Name, and the fourth is Be The One (Japanese Popstars Remix).

And here's the vid for The Ting Ting's That's Not My Name (Yo Gabba Gabba Remix). Gee, they sure love that TV show. They also made a music video for Shut Up and Let Me Go (Yo Gabba Gabba Remix), but I didn't post it because it's even more weird than this one. yeah.

Deerhunter Vs. SMD

The Simian Mobile Disco team just released their edit of Deerhunter's Octet, off of the '07 release Cryptograms. Here's the download, found it over at WLI.

Chromeo Remixes Vampire Weekend

Last Wednesday at MTV U's Woodie Awards, Chromeo took on the stage with Vampire Weekend, and put together The Kids Don't Stand A Chance (Chromeo Remix). Chromeo won an award, and you can check out some photos of electronic duo with Vampire Weekend on the website. The Remix is kinda sorta like the original, except with beats instead of strings. It's also featured on their The Kids Don't Stand A Chance single, which you can buy here.

Radioclit Remixes

London's Radioclit, of The Very Best, has been pretty busy lately. Architecture In Helinski released Radioclit's remix of their new single, That Beep, on AIH's website. You'll be able to buy the official single on Australian iTunes, November 22. Radioclit's also been doing work with Sweden's Teddybears, and remixed their hit track Cobrastyle, featuring Mad Cobra. The song actually uses riffs and elements of older songs you might know, including Bomdigi, by Erick Sermon. It's a great song, the original was featured on the Employee of the Month soundtrack.
